Ejemplo de Cálculo Paso a Paso

Escenario: Mulching a 25 ft × 8 ft front garden bed at a 3-inch depth.

Calculate Bed Area: 25 ft × 8 ft = 200 sq ft.

Convert 3" Depth to Feet: 3 ÷ 12 = 0.25 ft.

Calculate Volume in Cu Ft: 200 × 0.25 = 50 cu ft + 5% buffer = 52.5 cu ft.

Convert to Cubic Yards: 52.5 ÷ 27 = 1.94 cubic yards.

Calculate 2 cu ft Bags: 52.5 ÷ 2 = 26.25 -> 27 bags.

Result: Purchase 27 bags of 2-cu-ft mulch or order 2 cubic yards of bulk mulch.

Mulch Volume Formula

Cubic Yards = (Length [ft] × Width [ft] × Depth [in ÷ 12]) ÷ 27

Bed surface area (Length × Width) is multiplied by depth in feet. Dividing by 27 gives cubic yards. One cubic yard equals 13.5 bags of 2-cubic-foot mulch or 9 bags of 3-cubic-foot mulch.
